WoW - Quick Gold in BRD

My apologies for the lack of updates, I’ve been sick for the past few days. As a sort of pseudo-update, I thought I’d release one of my little tricks for making gold in WoW when I only have around 20-40 mins to play. This is good money if you’re an enchanter, with a little bit of bonus money if you’re a miner, but it’s still decent cash even without either of those professions factored in.

Blackrock Depths Map
To do this, you need either 280 lockpicking (go rogues!) or the BRD key. Zone in, unlock the first door to your left. If you are not an enchanter, skip to the next paragraph now. Otherwise, keep going straight, kill the bloodhound, and take a right down the Dark Iron Highway, avoiding patrols. You should be able to avoid aggroing anything simply by virtue of being a level 70 around level 50ish mobs. Head through the gate, across the bridge, and into the hallway filled with fire elementals. You should see Incendius circling the Black Forge. Kill the pair of elementals closest to his platform, then pull him from range. At 70, the only danger to this fight is his knockback attack, so you want to fight him in a position where you won’t get tossed into the lava. Kill him, loot, disenchant the bracers, and trace back your steps until you see another locked gate.Unlock the other locked gate, then unlock the East Garrison Door. Go up the stairs, up the ramp to the spectator section of the Ring of Law, work your way around to the other side, and make a right. You will want to be wall walking for this part, as there are a few groups with very little wiggle room to get around. At the end of the hallway, you should see Pyromancer Loregrain and his 2 adds. There is absolutely nothing noteworthy about this fight, although the adds run at around 20% health, so make sure to finish them off quick. Loregrain always drops a blue that DE’s into a Small Brilliant Shard, and has a chance to drop the formula for the Fiery Weapon enchant, which usually sells for about 75g on any servers I have played on.If you are a miner, make sure to mine any Dark Iron nodes that are guarded by manageable packs, the Dark Iron Highway is great for this. Doing just Loregrain will net you on average around 85g per hour, more if the RNG is on your side and you get multiple Fiery drops, less if you don’t get any. If you are an enchanter, tack a guaranteed extra 40g per hour on there, assuming Large Brilliant Shards sell for 8g per like they do on my server. As a miner / enchanter, I have made up to 400g in 40 mins of doing this. That is 10g per minute, definitely not a bad payout for such a low risk run. Your mileage may vary, but I would definitely suggest giving this a shot. If you end up getting your epic flyer a bit quicker because of me, just mail me some Dark Iron Ale… /wink.

Hey Mark! There are a lot of ways you could make money, depending on your class, but considering you have some capital to begin with I would suggest playing the auction house.

I’m going to be doing a series of articles on this coming up, along with my very first podcast (ZOMG) but really what you want to look for initially is small-investment items that you can resell for a reasonable profit until you hit around 1000 gold, at which point you can move on to bigger ticket items. The most important thing is to just get a feel for your server’s economy, and slowly but surely dominate it. Failing that, if you are decently geared and damage spec’d, soloing SM Lib and Armory is awesome money on most servers, and it was how I got my epic mount pre-bc. Best of luck!

Thanks for the tips! (As you can see, just found your website, browsing around :P)

Im going to try this out later.

Also, I read your pots on the WoW forums about working the auction house. Definitely looking forward to seeing your post on that.

just wanted to know what character you were using for this strat. of yours and wanted to know which would you prefer between a 70 warlock or 70 paladin and what spec

I am using a level 70 rogue, myself. Really, if you’re just shard farming, any character will work, but if the pally happens to be ret spec you could probably clear it a little faster than with any of your other options. If the pally is prot, you might do better aoe clearing live side stratholme if your gear is decent. More shards, plus essences and dusts.

Hey Stray you are a life saver i had one of my friends tell me about you. Ok so my question is can u still make a decent amount of money by just having a rogue do this with 375 minning but not enchanting ? How would i make money , would it be from the fiery enchants ? and the ore ? Please explain. Also could you tell me when your next 1 -1000g podcast will be ?

Hey David, yeah the fiery enchants would be your main source of cash. You could also make a pretty penny selling off the Dark Iron ore, although you’d have to do a bit more killing.

My next podcast was going to be Monday, but will probably now end up being on Weds or Thurs since it’s hard to talk for 10 minutes straight when I’m coughing every minute or so. Glad you like the site, hope it helps!
