WoW - 29 Twink Hunter

Today we’re going to focus on creating the ultimate level 29 twink hunter. Hunters are, arguably, the most powerful class in the 20-29 bracket due to their heavy damage, decent utility, and above average survivability. Like rogues, most of their top tier gear comes from quests, so you can save your gold for enchants and engineering. Again, as I mentioned in my rogue guide, this is for people interested in getting the best 29 twink hunter gear. Go for the gold or go home!

My twink hunter was my second twink, and though he has since leveled out of the 29 bracket (currently in the 59 bracket), I am in the process of making another hunter twink to replace him. Hunters in the 20-29 bracket are definitely up there for the most fun I have had in this game. That said, here are the best pieces of gear for a 29 hunter in each slot.

Head: Pathfinder Hat of the Monkey - Enchanted with Lesser Arcanum of Constitution

Neck: [H]Scout’s Medallion OR [A]Sentinel’s Medallion

Shoulders: Mantle of Thieves

Back: Tigerstrike Mantle - Enchanted with Lesser Agility OR Parachute Cloak Enchanted with Greater Agility

Chest: Raptor Hunter Tunic - Enchanted with Exceptional Health OR Exceptional Stats

Wrist: Barbaric Bracers - Enchanted with Superior Stamina

Hands: Razzeric’s Racing Grips - Enchanted with Superior Agility

Waist: Defiler’s Leather Girdle

Legs: Petrolspill Leggings OR Troll’s Bane Leggings - Enchanted with Nethercleft Leg Armor OR Nethercobra Leg Armor

Feet: Defiler’s Leather Boots - Enchanted with Greater Stamina OR Greater Agility

Ring 1: [H]Legionnaire’s Band OR [A]Protector’s Band

Ring 2: Deadman’s Hand OR Tundra Ring of Agility / the Monkey

Trinkets: Insignia of the Alliance / Horde & Talisman of Arathor / Defiler’s Talisman

Ranged: Master Hunter’s Rifle OR Master Hunter’s Bow with a Sniper Scope

Melee Weapons: The Butcher and [A]Sentinel’s / [H]Scout’s Blade- Both enchanted with Agility

You will need someone to run you through all of the _____ Hunter quests in Stranglethorn Vale. You’ll want to die and trail behind them in ghost form to avoid getting XP from the kills while still getting credited. With the named mobs, simply run up to them, die, run to your corpse, and wait for your buddy to kill the mob, then just rez and loot. Likewise for the quest chain for Razzeric in Thousand Needles. You should be able to get the quest rewards without dinging 30 if you start them at 28, but since you are doing the full line of quests, you MUST minimize the experience you gain from mobs. If worse comes to worse, forget Razzeric’s since those aren’t a huge stat loss compared to AH gloves. The gun is half the reason hunters are so powerful at this level, so do whatever you have to do to get it.

As far as talent spec choices go, I’d suggest either Marksman for max DPS, or Survival for general utility and midfield flag retrieval assistance.

Hey mate, nice guide, but I wonder, wouldn’t the Panther Hunter Leggings, http://www.wowhead.com/?item=4108 , from STV be better?

Nvm, didn’t realize that you weren’t able to enchant them with Nethercleft then..

Hi, I looked up Talisman of Arathor and I am not sure where to find the vendor who gives that. I assume its a trinket using honor and tokens. I searched the Arathi Highlands, North Barrens and The Hall of Heroes (Orgrimmar) and only found Legionnaire’s Band, Insignia of the Horde, and Defiler’s Talisman. Can you tell me the location of the vendor who gives Talisman of Arathor please. Thnks for your guide btw, I love it.

Another good trinket to use is the JC Black Panther (215) if you want a liitle more AP.. giving you 90 for 15sec has 5min CD but still is worth it in some situations. Your call

    what pet do you prefer?

Also another glove choice depending on what you are looking to spec with your hunter is Fletcher gloves (+14 range Crit rating = 2% crit) better then 7 agi = 1/2% crit but u lose the stam soo it depends on if you are going pure dps or stam build.

Alliance can finish up Stalvan chain and get level 35 one-handed blue axe(with 8 crit raiting), means you can put all tbc enchants available like 30 intelect on it.

Also, another idea for the bracers would be Gallen cuffs, seeing that the item lvl is 35, you can get a nice BC enchant, either go with +24 AP for All out marksman, or a +12 stam for more survivability.

I think everyone goes with Bellygrub (lvl 24 Boar from Redridge Mountains) for the 29 bracket because it comes with Charge 3 and Gore 4.

Add Bite 4 from another tamed pet and you got yourself one annoying PvP pet!

@The Butcher - You can also go with Thornspike from RFK, it’s +8 AGI.

Hi.. I just wonder, isn’t Archeus the best wepon, for a level 29 hunter twink ? You can get that by quest, as Alliance. The reson it is so good, is because you can enchant it, with Savagery (+70 AP).. or do you still think The Butcher and Sentinel’s Blade, Both enchanted with Agility, is better ?!

  12. by admin, on July 6 2008 @ 2:25 pm

I think it comes down to a matter of preference, Jakob. With The Butcher and Sentinel’s Blade, you get 42 agility and 7 stam, and the agility nets you additional dodge, which helps if you have a rogue on you, and a very decent amount of crit as well. I personally feel like that’s worth trading off 28 AP for, but your mileage may vary.

Okay.. I think I’ll take The Butcher and Sentinel’s Blade. But thank you very much, for the good advice, and a very nice guide :D

I think the Gallan Cuffs, http://www.wowhead.com/?item=2032 , with +24 AP on is better than the Barbaric Bracers.

Yeah, I pretty much have all that gear, except for the most important thing, MASTER HUNTER’S RIFLE! lol I forgot to get it.

Another good ring that seems to be better then the ring of the monkey (or at least from what I understood it to be) Is a charged gear of the Monkey, dropped off of Mekgineer Thermaplugg in Gnomeregan. The one that dropped for me has 6 agi and 7 stam, plus 5 nature and arcane resistance, useful for resisting those sheep and roots spells. This would be hard to get as it’s a random enchantment on the rings, but probably about as easy to get as the Deadman’s ring that Doan drops.

And I guess one more thing. The Night Watch Quiver or Bandolier from the quest chain in darkshire is the best one you can get, it has 2 additional slots then the one you can buy for your lvl, as well as increases ranged attack speed by an additional 1%. May not be much, but when twinking everything helps :)

I also think the Zealot blade would be nice for a little bit extra intellect so your mana last longer. But thats a personal preference. A little intellect wont hurt a hunter seeing as you need mana to do your skill attacks. For marksman hunter you dont really need the sword dmg your going to be using your gun/bow for attacking. So What ever blade you choose I think it would be best to pay attention to the stats on the blade. :)
